During the 2018 Hill and Woolsey fires, areas along the west side of Westlake Boulevard were burned. Due to the succession of rain events following the fires, this location was inundated with stormwater, debris, and sediment which eroded from the hillside and spilled onto the roadway. This key arterial roadway became impassable and required extensive debris removal. The proposed improvements will minimize future hillside runoff and debris by controlling and diverting part of the excess stormwater runoff. Protection of the roadway will be done with sediment basins, a catch basin, v-ditch gutters and sediment walls to convey runoff into the existing catch basins. The walls and basins will capture sediment and minimize debris from entering the roadway.
