The City of Santa Monica is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to provide nighttime water waste patrols and daytime water audits. These services are key components of the City’s enhanced community outreach in response to the current drought to reduce water waste from outdoor irrigation, inefficient fixtures, and leaks. In total, the City has approximately 18,000 water service connections over an area of 8.3 square miles.Water waste patrols are needed during the late night/early morning hours when irrigation systems are typically scheduled to run and customers are not able to observe issues that would violate local, regional, and/or State outdoor Water Conservation Requirements resulting in water waste.Water use audits will focus on irrigation systems to detect deficiencies and make recommendations for resolution. Properties receiving audits will include those observed with violations from the water waste patrols, along with other customers interested in increasing the efficiency of their irrigation systems. Indoor water use and leak detection may also be included in the audits as appropriate.Vendors may submit bids on both Water Waste Patrols and Water Audits, or just one of the services.
