The goal of this project is to replace an existing 12-inch sewer siphon crossing underneath the Coachella Valley Stormwater Channel that was exposed during a storm event in February of 2019 with a safer and deeper multi-barrel siphon sewer pipeline. The current sewer siphon extends under the stormwater channel from Westward Ho Drive to the west of the channel to Indio Water Authority's Well Site 4A to the east of the channel. Using the trenchless horizontal directional drilling (HDD) method, a new sewer siphon that extends approximately 1,125 linear feet will be installed adjacent to the existing one and will be tied in to the existing sewer in the vicinity. Work will include the installation of new 8-inch and 10-inch sewer and related facilities, retrofitting one existing sewer manhole, and adding five new sewer manholes.
