RTD is seeking consultant services to conduct a Park-n-Ride Trip Generation Study. The primary objective of this project is to conduct a comprehensive data collection related to its park-n-ride facilities. The collected data will be crucial and will serve as a valuable foundation for assessing the usage patterns, demand, and effectiveness of existing facilities and also for planning improvements, and informing future transportation initiatives.BackgroundCurrently RTD has approximately 95 park-n-rides that serve bus, light rail, and commuter rail passengers. While park-n-ride usage has decreased considerably due to the pandemic, some of the park-n-rides had very minimal usage even pre-pandemic. Therefore, data collection will only be required for up to a total of 70 park-n-rides. RTD project team will identify the list of park-n-rides for data collection during project kick-off.RTD used to collect utilization at each park-n-ride twice a month that was summarized into a quarterly System-wide Park-n-Ride Utilization Report. However, this data collection is currently limited to bus and commuter rail park-n-rides only. Utilization data is collected during weekdays and included utilization data for both autos and bicycles. “Utilization” is defined as the average number of spaces occupied in any given Park-n-Ride at a given time during a weekday. As indicated previously, data collected through this effort will provide vital information for various RTD planning efforts, RTD’s travel demand model development/application, and Transit Oriented Communities (TOC) Joint Development Program.
