Traffic Signal Optimization and Cabinet Replacement Assessment

Description

The Village of Schaumburg Transportation Department (hereinafter Village) is seeking a qualified consultant to complete a traffic signal optimization study and traffic signal cabinet replacement plan. The Village maintains and operates traffic signals at 25 intersections and 4 signal systems throughout the village. In recent years, the village has invested in incorporating new technology such as video detection into the village’s traffic signal system at 14 of those intersections with the balance using loop detection. Although these investments have improved traffic flow, the village is seeking to achieve further improvement in the overall traffic flow along the village’s major roadway corridors through an evaluation of signal timing and coordination optimization. In addition, some of the village’s signal equipment is aging and a long term plan for replacement is needed. The services for traffic signal optimization and signal cabinet replacement assessment is a locally funded project.
