The Washington County Suicide Prevention Program has launched its first strategic planning process since it was founded seven years ago, and seeks to develop one unified plan across the Suicide Prevention Council (a group of external stakeholders from various sectors) and the internal county suicide prevention program. Initial conversations and work sessions have already occurred with internal and external stakeholders. The task now is to: 1) develop summarized reports of the findings gathered; 2) conduct reviews of the research literature, local and state suicide data; and state and federal suicide prevention frameworks; 3) bring this information to department leadership in facilitated working meetings; 4) incorporate leadership and community feedback into draft strategic plan (alongside county staff); and 5) develop a finalized plan.
