Siemens S70 LRV Replacement Parts

Description

Valley Metro Rail, Inc. ("Agency") plans to execute a sole source contract with Siemens Mobility Inc ("Siemens"), for various replacement structural and hardware components for the Agency's Siemens S70 light rail vehicles (LRVs). The parts are needed to replace parts used by the Agency as a result of an accident that occurred involving LRV number 201. These parts are needed in inventory for future needs, while some of the parts are due back to Siemens as they were borrowed by the Agency to repair the aforementioned LRV. The parts and their quantities are listed on the included sole source public notice.The sole source mechanism is warranted and appropriate due to Siemens being the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of the Agency's S70 LRVs and the only company to possess the needed information, engineering resources, and parts required by the Agency. Furthermore, the Agency must purchase the parts through the OEM (Siemens) to maintain warranties and uniformity of the major systems.
