RELATED SECTIONS Section 32 12 16 – Asphalt Pavement REFERENCES Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT): Standard Specifications for Highway and Bridge Construction, Latest Edition. SUBMITTALS Submit asphalt emulsion intended for use. Include material sources and manufactures instructions for installation. PROJECT CONDITIONS A. Verify that site conditions and weather forecast are within the manufacture’s requirements. B. Provide sufficient paving operations to meet project schedule and requirements. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 A. MATERIALS All products must meet or exceed the requirements of the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT): Standard Specifications for Highway and Bridge Construction, Latest Edition. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 A. EXAMINATION Verify existing surface to receive emulsion meets the requirements in the manufacture’s instructions. Remove all dirt, dust, debris, and loose aggregate using mechanical sweepers or blowers. B. Remove any vegetation growing through cracks. C. Clean and route existing cracks within the seal area, and fill with hot-applied sealant prior to applying emulsified sealant. 3.3 A. PLACING ASPHALT EMULSION SEALER Place Two coats of asphalt emulsion seal coat on existing lots as indicated in the plan set. Total application rate between the two coats is to equal 0.25 gal/SY.
