The following are the results of our observations. Results Three five-foot hand auger borings were advanced east of the existing parking lots 1, 2, and 3 (See Attachment A, Boring Location Map), where the proposed connecting drive lane is planned. At levels of interest, dynamic cone penetration testing (DCPT) was performed. The DCPT tests described by ASTM Special Technical Publication 399 were used. During the tests, 15-pound controlled hammer blows fall a distance of 20 inches along a guide rod by gravity and drive a 1-1/2-inch diameter cone-tipped rod a given distance, or increment, of 1-3/4 inches. A count of the blows was made and recorded. The count was an indication of the soil strength or relative density and correlates to the split spoon blow counts (N-values). The results can be found in the boring logs in Attachment B. The three hand auger borings encountered a 6-inch silty clay topsoil surface cover overlying existing fill. The existing fill was medium dense with SPT N-values on the order of 14 to 18 blows per foot.
