The City of Santa Monica, (referred to hereafter as “the City”) is inviting proposals from qualified firms or team of firms (“Consultant”) interested in providing professional consulting services to the City’s Mobility Division for the Santa Monica Boulevard Corridor Safety Enhancement Study (“the Project”).The Mobility Division is charged with advancing the City goals of: reducing emissions by converting 50% of local trips from cars to other modes; creating complete and connected multimodal roadway network accessible to users of all ages and abilities; eliminating severe and fatal collisions by 2026 (i.e., Vision Zero). This project advances these goals on a major transit and commercial corridor, and directly implements the City’s Vision Zero goal to eliminate severe and fatal injury crashes.The Project is funded through a grant, with a local match, from the California Department of Transportation (“Caltrans”) Sustainable Communities Transportation Planning Grant Program (state only funds).The City is seeking a Consultant with proven expertise in conducting transportation safety assessments and, through a data-driven analysis and robust outreach process, identification of targeted and effective safety countermeasures. All work on the Project will need to be completed in advance of April 30, 2026 to meet Caltrans grant requirements.
