Rivers End is a 40-acre residential community located in Beaufort County near Okatie, South Carolinathat is comprised of single-family, detached homes. The stormwater system includes ditches, two layersof pipes, and two wet ponds and discharges to the Okatie River watershed, a designated TMDLwatershed impaired for fecal coliform. The County owns and maintains the roads and rights-of-way inthis community and has identified it as a viable location for water quality best management practice(BMP) implementation. Beaufort County is dedicated to improving the water quality within this impairedwatershed while repairing the failing double-layered system.The goals of this project include: Replace lower HDPE system with RCP Install bioswales along Rivers End Drive Install an in-pipe manufactured treatment device (unsubmerged) targeted to remove bacteria Perform necessary maintenance of existing systemDesign plans are attached for reference.
