REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS Tribal Prosecutor – Skokomish Tribal Court Proposal Review Beginning: April 13, 2026 Position Overview The Skokomish Tribal Court is seeking a qualified attorney to serve as Tribal Prosecutor. This is a contract position responsible for representing the Tribe in criminal matters and ensuring timely, consistent prosecution of cases within the Court’s jurisdiction. Scope of Work The Prosecutor shall: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Represent the Tribe in all criminal proceedings, including hearings and trials Review law enforcement referrals and make timely charging decisions Prepare and file complaints, citations, and related legal documents Prosecute criminal offenses, including traffic citations and infractions Represent the Tribe in exclusion proceedings, as applicable Represent the Tribe in civil enforcement actions initiated by the Tribe, including housing enforcement and regulatory compliance, where no other Tribal legal counsel is designated 7. Maintain communication with law enforcement, court staff, and relevant parties 8. Uphold professional and ethical standards Schedule & Availability • • • One (1) in-person court day per week Approximately 16 hours per week of remote work for case review and preparation Additional availability as needed for trials or urgent matters Compensation Compensation will be a monthly flat rate, commensurate with experience. Applicants must include a proposed monthly rate. Contract Term Begins upon execution (anticipated Spring/Summer 2026) and continue through September 30, 2027, with the option to renew. Minimum Qualifications 1. Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school 2. Licensed and in good standing with a State Bar 3. Experience in criminal prosecution or comparable legal practice Preferred Qualifications 1. Experience working in Tribal courts 2. Knowledge of Indian Country jurisdiction 3. Experience working with law enforcement and criminal case development Expectations of Performance The Prosecutor is expected to: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
