The Athens-Clarke County Courthouse parking deck access and payment equipment has reached the end of its useful life and no longer meets the operational needs of the facility. The current system runs on Windows 10-based hardware, experiences frequent breakdowns, processes transactions slowly, and provides limited reporting capabilities. Additionally, the system does not support modern payment options such as QR code payments, creating inconvenience for patrons and increasing transaction times at entry and exit points.Upgrading to a modern parking management solution will significantly improve efficiency, customer experience, and accountability. New systems incorporate License Plate Recognition (LPR) cameras that enhance security by providing vehicle tracking and audit capabilities while reducing reliance on physical tickets. Advanced reporting features will allow staff to better monitor parking activity, track validations, manage monthly renters, and oversee employee parking privileges with greater accuracy and transparency. The upgraded system will also improve traffic flow throughout the facility. Patrons will be able to pay before returning to their vehicles, reducing congestion at exit lanes and shortening wait times. Faster processing, improved reliability, enhanced security, and better operational reporting make replacement of the current parking equipment a necessary investment for the continued effective operation of the courthouse parking deck. The City Hall parking lot management system shall be fully integrated with the Courthouse parking management system.
