The project is surface preparation and applying a protective coating to the 2.3-million-gallon R2 Reservoir, part of the City of Benicia potable water distribution system. The reservoir is an above grade, welded steel water tank, originally constructed in 1969 and refurbished and recoated in 1995. The project includes abrasive blasting, containment, and recoating of the interior and exterior steel. The project also includes minor structural steel, mechanical and electrical improvements, and replacement of cathodic protection components.
