The goal of this project is to enhance emergency preparedness for pregnant and postpartum women living in rural communities across Mississippi. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by this population, especially in areas with limited healthcare infrastructure, the project aims to increase access to essential emergency resources, including but not limited to medical care and communication tools. Additionally, it seeks to provide tailored educational materials and training sessions that equip women and their families with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond effectively in emergencies, such as natural disasters, pandemics, or other public health crises.A key component of this project is the requirement that a Mississippi-based, woman-led nonprofit organization lead it with a proven track record of improving maternal health outcomes in rural populations. This leadership structure ensures that the work is grounded in lived experience and community trust while centering fair access at its core. This project will strengthen the capacity of local organizations, healthcare providers, and community-based groups that support pregnant and postpartum women. By building strategic partnerships and improving coordination among these entities, the project fosters a more responsive and resilient support network. Through a combination of outreach, resource distribution, and collaborative planning, this project aims to enhance both short-term and long-term outcomes for maternal and infant health in rural Mississippi, ensuring that no mother or baby is left behind during times of crisis.
