BOX 9040 WINDOW ROCK, ARIZONA 86515 ATTN: Donovan Pete, Community Library Manager I. Introduction The Navajo Nation Library (NNL) is situated under the Navajo Nation Department of Diné Education, a department under the Executive Branch of the Navajo Nation Government. The NNL currently works with three (3) Branch Libraries spread across the Navajo Nation. The NNL serves as the main Tribal Public Library entity for the Navajo Nation. The NNL has approximately 5,000 registered card holders, and up to 45,000 titles in the NNL catalog. The NNL is looking to add 50,000 metadata records and add an additional 20,000 in digital titles. Currently, the Navajo Nation Library is part of the Navajo County Library District and has been extended usage of the Polaris ILS and OPAC. The NNL does not administer as NCLD has authority, but the NNL uses the circulation, cataloging, reporting, monitoring library patrons, and registering new library patrons to add to our records. As of November 2024, the NNL has been asked to exit from the Navajo County Library District, therefore, license and authority for the NNL will be revoked. Implementation of our own ILS’ vital to continued library services and operations. The NNL is looking to have the ILS implemented and operational before December 30, 2025. II.
