The Rolling Hills Area paving project will mill/fill to varying depths the roads in the project scope of work. The project has 3 bid components: 1) Collector street improvements (base bid) which will be funded from HURF and general funds dedicated by budget for Collector streets. These Collector streets will be milled to a depth of 3", followed by 3" of asphaltic cement concrete, effectively reconstructing them; 2) Neighborhood streets funded by Prop 411 Better Streets (base bid). Due to the highly deteriorated condition of these streets, they are a part of the base bid, and will be milled and filled with 2" of asphaltic cement concrete paving; and, 3) Neighborhood streets which are less deteriorated, are proposed for a mill/fill of 1.5" (add-alternate). The add-alternate will be awarded if the project can be awarded for the Engineer's estimate. If the add-alternate exceeds the engineer's estimate, the add-alternate may not be awarded, and these streets may be resurfaced using surface treatments. The total amount of asphaltic cement concrete to be placed under all three components approaches 60,000 tons. This project will include construction of 520 curb access ramps to the newly adopted PROWAG standards. These ramps are in the 2 base bid elements; the ramps on the add-alternate streets are a part of the base bid.
