Professional Development for Exceptional Education

The Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) is seeking a vendor for the provision of Professional Development training on Exceptional Education teaching strategies and researched based practices for general education teachers both in-person and virtually. The sequence of training will target approximately 3,000 teachers, faculty, administrators, and central based administrators.TUSD serves approximately 7,000 exceptional education students with unique abilities. We are seeking to partner with a vendor who will develop, design, and deliver training over the span of at least three years to build our staff’s capacity on instructional strategies and practices with uniquely abled students in general education classrooms. As the largest school system in southern Arizona, our district spans over 200 square miles and 88 campuses in total. We are one of the top 5 employers in Pima County.To be eligible, it is mandatory that the proposed vendor provide the following:A research-based sequence of rigorous courses that are specific to exceptional education and are applicable to general education teachers.Can provide multiple training sessions during the district’s Professional Development days, and specified days in June or July.Can provide a sequence of courses that build on each other to strengthen teacher’s capacities on managing and accommodating exceptional education students.Detailed requirements are outlined further in the sections below.
