INVITITION FOR BID FOR POTHOLE / ROAD FAILURE REPAIR BID NUMBER 081116 FOR CITY OF SOCORRO, NEW MEXICO City of Socorro 111 School of Mines Rd. Socorro, New Mexico 87801 ISSUE DATE: July 28, 2016 DUE DATE: August 11, 2016 Overview Scope/Specifications The City of Socorro (Owner) hereby invites competitive sealed bids for Pothole / Road Failure Repair. The bid shall consist of repairing pothole locations by saw cutting, compacting base, place and compact Plant Mix Bituminous Pavement (PMBP) within the City of Socorro. Contractor is required to supply all materials necessary to complete the project. 1. Potholes will be marked by the Owner to the nearest foot. Potholes shall be cut to the Owner’s marks, compacted and a minimum of 3” of PMBP placed and compacted to be level with the surrounding road surface. If not placed reasonably level with the surrounding road surface, contractor will be required to remove and replace at the Contractor’s expense. 2. PMBP shall be NMDOT Classification C conforming to the following gradation requirements (or approved equal): Sieve 1/2” 3/8” #4 #10 #40 #200 % Passing 100 70-98 45-70 30-50 15-25 4-8 A design mix shall be provided to the Owner, prior to start of construction. 3. A tack coat of emulsified asphalt shall be applied to the edges of the potholes prior to placement of PMBP. 4. Waste material (asphalt removed, dirt/base course) shall be delivered to a designated location, determined by the Owner at no expense to the Contractor. Removals shall be incidental to the project. 5. Traffic control will be the responsibility of the Contractor and incidental to the project. Bids will be awarded based on the unit price per square foot of pothole repair, as measured by the Owner upon completion of the work. The estimated amount of Pothole / Road Failure Repair is between 10,000 to 22,000 square feet. Procurement Sealed bids will be accepted until bid opening at 11:00 a.m. August 11, 2016 in the City Hall Council Chambers, 111 School of Mines Rd. Socorro, New Mexico. At that time bids will be opened publicly and recorded. The City of Socorro reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to accept the bid which in its judgment is most advantageous to the City. Contractor must be licensed to do this type of work in the State of New Mexico. Any bids received after the above date and/or time will be returned unopened. All bids must be clearly marked Bid No. 081116 on the lower left corner of the envelope.
