The City of Bridgeport seeks proposals to train personnel to obtain NASBLA Boat Crew Member Certification. The City of Bridgeport (COB) holds sole jurisdiction over Port of Bridgeport activities and often provides mutual aid support to the USCG and various harbor communities in Connecticut and Long Island, NY, and is part of the Connecticut Intra-State Mutual Aid Compact as well as the Federal Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC). The Bridgeport Fire Department (BFD) holds an automatic mutual aid agreement with adjacent towns in Fairfield and New Haven counties to provide assistance for water emergencies in Long Island Sound and its tributaries. The City of Bridgeport is seeking a company to train 20 response personnel to NASBLA Boat Crew Member Certification.The course will be delivered using “team teaching” as the model, where all instructors are engaged in every module within the course. Course structure will be instructor lecture, aided by slide presentations, class interactions, practical exercises, a knowledge test, and final exam. The Student to Instructor Ratio will be 4 to 1. Classes will be conducted in classrooms at BFD facilities. BFD vessels will be utilized for practical training in Bridgeport Harbor and adjacent waters.
