On Wednesday, Sept. 16, the Mojave Water Agency’s (MWA) annual Road Show returns, offering the public a deeper look at local water systems and the very agencies that serve their communities. Formerly known as the MWA Mini Tour, this free, educational bus tour is hosted by MWA staff and takes participants to local water facilities throughout the region. The tour concludes with a complimentary lunch. This year’s Road Show will focus on the Morongo Basin area, beginning with a morning viewing of Hi-Desert Water District, followed by stops at Joshua Basin Water District and Bighorn Desert View Water. The tour will give participants a firsthand look at the different water systems serving communities within MWA’s approximately 4,900-square-mile service area. “The Road Show give people an opportunity to see firsthand where their water comes from and how it is managed,” said Tony Winkel, Senior Principal Hydrogeologist with Mojave Water Agency. “The Morongo Basin has unique water resources and challenges, and seeing these systems in person helps connect the science of groundwater management with the water people use every day.” The Road Show is free and open to the public, but space is limited and spots are filling quickly.
