Proposals are being accepted by West Basin Municipal Water District (West Basin), for microbiological analytical, reporting and courier services. West Basin produces five types of recycled water for industrial cooling towers, boiler feeds irrigation and for seawater barrier/groundwater recharge in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County. Samples are collected from the Edward C Little Water Recycling facility (ECLWRF) and other satellite facilities which include secondary-treated wastewater, tertiary-treated recycled water, reverse osmosis-treated water in various stages of treatment, biological nitrified water, brine concentrate from the reverse osmosis treatment, and process backwash. Additional samples are collected at pump stations and the recycled Title 22 water (T22) distribution system.ECLWRF and West Basin satellite facilities are run by contract operator Veolia that will be conducting microbiological sampling seven (7) days a week. Therefore, laboratory couriers will pick up samples seven (7) days a week to comply within the regulatory holding times and preservation outlined in 40 CFR 136. The following constituents that will be analyzed are total and fecal coliform, E. coli and heterotrophic plate count (HPC). Once the analysis is complete, the results will be uploaded to West Basin's WaterTrax data base and results will be made available electronically, by either email or password-protected website.
