The City of Santa Monica (the “City”) is inviting proposals from qualified law firms interested in providing public sector employment and labor counsel to the City. The City seeks one or more experienced law firms to provide public sector management-side employment and labor law legal services, including advisory and representational work, litigation, negotiations, and training. Subject matters and areas of expertise required will include, but are not limited to, administrative hearings, antidiscrimination/harassment and retaliation, disability and leave laws (e.g., FMLA/CFRA, public health issues), labor relations and negotiations, personnel policies, public meetings, public safety (police/fire), wage and hour, workplace investigations, and retirement.Services would be requested as-needed by the City Attorney’s Office and Human Resources Department. The selected law firm(s) will make available attorneys to consult by telephone, email, videoconference, and in-person with City representatives. The selected law firm(s) will dedicate attorneys and staff necessary to provide prompt services to the City, including attorneys, paralegals, administrative professionals, and other administrative support staff.
