Intent to Sole Source Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College March 11, 2025 In accordance with Section 11-35-1560(a) of the SC Consolidated Procurement Code, and Section 19445.2015 of the SC Code of State Regulations, Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College intends to enter into a sole source contract for: Technical Training Aids Description of the Agency need that this procurement meets: Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College is planning to procure a Bayport Technical Flange and Gasket Trainer from Technical Training Aids. This trainer is designed to meet the needs of the IMT-223 class, particularly focusing on Flange and Gasket Maintenance skills. This will ensure that the training provided is directly applicable and relevant to the course material. OCtech industrial programs prepare students to be ready when they enter the workforce. The robust training lab manual provides detailed instructions and contains practical hands-on exercises that will ensure students have the skill set needed. The exercises are also versatile in that they can be used as an instructor-led course, or students can use the trainer for self-directed study. Students will benefit from convenient hands-on training with industry-standard components. This trainer can also be used for NCCER module hands-on credentials. This versatility makes it a valuable investment, as it can serve multiple educational purposes and enhance the credentials of the students. Description of market research Agency performed to determine the availability of products or services that would meet the Agency’s needs. In our market research, we have found that the Bayport Technical Trainer is the only trainer that provided a comprehensive flange and gasket trainer maintenance platform, which is needed to meet the curriculum of this program. No other vendor offers a flange and gasket specific trainer. The Bayport Trainer will teach the students to simulate field conditions in realistic situations involving craft, maintenance, and safety skills with gasket selection, change procedures, torque performance and blind placement. It will also allow instructors to teach troubleshooting skills on. In addition, this is the only trainer the College found available that will teach the students how to teardown, inspect and re-assemble multiple different flange and gasket configurations, as well as, teach troubleshooting skills on flange and gasket installations.
