BERKELEY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS (RFQ) SYLVIA MENDEZ MODERNIZATION PROJECT NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Berkeley Unified School District (“District”) is requesting the submission of proposals from vendors to provide qualifications, concepts, and manufacturer recommendations to assist the District in selecting a vendor to design and furnish the Sylvia Mendez Modernization Project. Respondents to this Request for Proposal (“RFQ”) should email proposals to JOHN CALISE, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF FACILITIES BERKELEY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT 1005 Parker Street Berkeley, CA 94710 facilities@berkeley.net ALL RESPONSES ARE DUE BY 2:00 p.m., ON May 10, 2024. Any Proposal received after that date and time will not be accepted. District reserves the right to waive any informalities or irregularities in received proposals. Further, the District reserves the right to reject any and all submittals and to negotiate contract terms with one or more respondent firms for one or more of the work items. The District retains the sole discretion to determine compliance issues and whether a program management respondent is responsive, responsible, and qualified. SECTION 1 – PROJECT SITE AND DESCRIPTION: A. PROJECT SITE: Sylvia Mendez Modernization Project: 2840 Ellsworth Street, Berkeley, CA 94705 B. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The modernization and addition of the Sylvia Mendez Modernization is nearing the completion of the renovation project, and students are expected to occupy the spaces on July 22, 2025. The District is seeking proposals from vendors to provide qualifications, concepts, and manufacturer recommendations to assist the District in selecting a vendor to design and furnish the Sylvia Mendez Modernization Project. The types of spaces needing design and furniture include standard classrooms, a science classroom, a wellness center, ancillary spaces, administrative offices, and one outdoor learning space. The District has utilized HON/Allsteel for office furniture but is open to an equivalent. SECTION 2 – RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DESIGN CONSULTANT The design consultant will provide design, product recommendations, delivery schedules, coordination services, and full pricing, including delivery, installation, and all taxes and fees.
