The purpose of this project is to plan and develop an updated Floodplain Management Plan (FMP) to comply with Community Rating System (CRS) program Activity 510 requirements. The City is a Class 6 community which offers a 20% reduction in flood insurance premiums for all policy holders. The FMP will be applicable citywide within the jurisdictional municipal boundaries of the City of Hollywood. Upon completion, the FMP will provide guidance and achievable goals to increase the resiliency of the community due to the climate change thus reducing vulnerability and exposure to flood hazards that can compromise the health and safety of the residents. Based on the 4Ps principle (Plan, Prepare, Prevent, Protect) and Consultant’s recommendations, the City will conduct a risk assessment of flood-prone areas, update maps, update City’s applicable Land Development Codes, map and model repetitive loss areas, and provide information to assist homeowners with reduction in flood exposure and property protection from future damage. By implementing the City of Hollywood Floodplain Management Plan, as managed through the Public Utilities Department, the City anticipates improvement in CRS category to provide additional savings to all property owners by mitigating the majority of repetitive loss properties and preventing future loss. This project involves funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant Mitigation (HUD CDBG-MIT) program. The City intends to obtain Professional Consultant Services for preparation of the FMP.
