Project Background South Windsor Public Schools has tentatively been awarded federal funding in conjunction with the State of Connecticut for an oil tank removal natural gas conversion project and is seeking proposals for Engineering services related to the removal of a 4000 gallon underground #2 fuel oil tank and appurtenances, including replacement of the existing oil-fired burner to natural gas fired burner on a low-pressure steam Smith Cast Iron Boiler at the Ellsworth Administration Building. B. Building Description The Ellsworth Administration Building is located at 1737 Main Street, South Windsor, CT. The Building was originally constructed in 1834. The Smith Cast Iron Boiler was installed in 2005. C. Project Estimates The engineering firm shall provide a total construction cost estimate with the construction documents for review by the Owner. D. Project Schedule The overall project schedule consists of engineering, bid and construction services. Engineering services phase to begin upon the successful award of funds from the Federal/State governments. RFP for construction services must be awarded by December 20, 2024. Construction is anticipated to begin at the end of the heating season in the Spring of 2025, and completed prior to the heating season fall of 2025. 2 | Page E.
