The Airport Substation Transformer Upgrade (Project) will replace the two existing Airport Substation transformers with three new 55-MVA transformers (one will serve as a backup), the existing switchgear equipment, and other supporting electrical systems. This Project will increase capacity and improve power supply reliability and redundancy for power supply scenarios outside of normal operations. The Project is one of the two substations that provides power to the Airport, which is a campus operational twenty-four (24) hours a day throughout the year. The Airport shall remain operational at all times during the implementation of the Project. The Project is also located on the West-of-Bayshore (WOB) property owned by the Airport. The WOB property contains major utilities, water pump stations, and a biologically sensitive habitat that supports endangered species.
