The Town of Manchester operates a leaf composting facility adjacent to the Manchester Landfill located at 263 Olcott St. Annually the Town collects leaves from curbside yard waste collection and commercial users of the Landfill and generates approximately 15,000 to 18,000 cubic yards of compost each year. Due to the volume of leaves and space requirements, the compost is generated in two “harvests”. The first harvest is available in late May and the second harvest is available in September each year.The Town also collects yard waste, brush, tree limbs, stumps and clean pallets from contractors and landscapers. This material is placed in a designated area of the landfill. Periodically throughout the year, this material is ground into wood chips.
