Childcare Provider Partnership

Description

The City is developing a plan to construct a childcare facility that would serve 100-200 children. The intent of the City is to construct the facility on City owned land. The City would utilize grants and donations to fund the capital costs of the facility and would contract with a provider to operate the facility. The City has several primary goals it would like to accomplish: (1) At least 51% of the children using the facility would come from families who are of low to moderate income; (2) The provider would need to pay competitive wages and benefits to be negotiated between the City and the provider; (3) The City would like to explore the feasibility of the provider providing services during non-traditional hours and on weekends; and (4) The City would like to explore the feasibility of the provider operating an on-the-job training facility to train childcare workers for its own operations as well as other providers in the region.
