The Bridgeton Public School District is seeking a company to provide research based ongoing, embedded professional development to enhance our teachers’ abilities to teach Guided Math with understanding through a focus on students’ mathematical thinking. We are seeking a student-centered approach to teaching math that incorporates students understanding, numerical fluency, and builds on children’s intuitive problem-solving processes to deepen and extend students’ math understanding. Professional development must be able to increase teachers’ understanding of children’s mathematical thinking and how to use children’s thinking to guide instruction. Professional development is not to be aligned with any specific program or textbook series, but professional development that teaches strategies that will enhance teachers’ ability to teach for understanding using any textbook or curriculum materials. The outcome is for professional development to be designed so that teachers meet the needs of their students and make connections between research on children’s thinking and their State Math Standards. The understanding is that teachers continue to receive professional development to implement the Guided Math strategy/approach for all mathematics lessons to start with what students know and build on their intuitive problem-solving processes so that each and every student grows in their specific Math Standards of their state.Additionally, provide prof
