The Department of Public Works is advertising for bids to fabricate and install catch basin trash screens as a part of the City’s Catch Basin Screen Installation Project.The work consists of retrofitting approximately 102 existing storm water catch basins citywide with Connector Pipe Screen (CPS) units, full capture trash baskets (baskets), and Brush Inlet Screens (Brushes) to improve removal of pollutants entering the water system, including area creeks, ground water and ocean bodies. The proposed CPS and baskets are “full capture” screens designed to catch debris and trash as small as 5mm (0.2 inch) wide.The project work includes, but is not limited to, survey and measurements of all catch basin locations, fabrication of the CPS, baskets, and Brush Inlet Screen trash capture devices, traffic control and installation of the CPS, baskets, and Brush devices, and all other work as shown on the plans and delineated in the specifications. This project will be bid out to prequalified contractors with active Regional Cooperative Agreements with Orange County Public Works.This project is covered “Project Work” as defined in the Second Amended and Restated Community Workforce Agreement (CWA) that the City entered with the Los Angeles/Orange Counties Building and Construction Trades Council and the Signatory Craft Councils and Local Unions.
