Building and Safety Temporary Staffing

Description

The City of Santa Monica's Building and Safety Division is seeking proposals to provide temporary staffing support (for not more than one year per assignment) to fill a need for Plan Check Engineers and Combination Building Inspectors to address periods of excess workloads due to staffing shortages.  Temporary staffing in both groups is necessary and will assist with current workloads, associated with vacancies. This will help restore adherence to the Division’s established service goals.  Engineers are needed to review and approve construction plans submitted to Building and Safety for plan review, while inspectors are needed to conduct compliance inspections at construction sites with valid building permits.  Engineers may be able to perform plan reviews remotely or in person, depending upon City staffing needs.  Inspectors will need to work on construction sites throughout the City, in person.  Potential vendors are welcome to submit proposals for either temporary Inspection staff, temporary Plan Check staff, or both.  The anticipated term of the contract is five years to address the urgent current need, as well as potential future needs as they arise.
