Bid Emergency Snow Plow Services

Description

It is the intention of the City of Syracuse Department of Public Works to augment, add to and or complement existing City of Syracuse Snow removal operations with the addition of "outside" contractors. Contractors proposing their services under this contract would be expected to provide the Commissioner with a detailed list of Trucks, i.e. 4x4's, 10 wheelers and or 6 wheelers all equipped with hydraulic nose and wing plows. Each truck must be equipped with a City of Syracuse supplied GPS system, capable of monitoring location and speed. This is the standard by which the “existing City DPW Fleet operates”. Assignments throughout the City of Syracuse would be based on the type of equipment provided on the aforesaid "detailed list". The Commissioner would exercise a wide range of options for the "contractor" based on existing conditions, forecast and status of existing City fleet i.e. out of service and /or repairs. A typical contractor "crew" would consist of 4 large plows, as described above and a supervisor, also equipped with a capable pick up with a plow and capable of doing clean up behind his /her crew, i.e. pies, fillets, crossovers and dead ends. During the months of November through April this is a 24/7 operation and as such the successful contractor would be expected to mobilize the requested equipment and crews within 2 hours of a call from the Commissioner or the assigned designee.
