Annual Indigent Cremation & Burial Program

Description

The Indigent Cremation Program, through local contracted funeral home vendors will provide services for indigent and/or unclaimed individuals that died in Alachua County, as designated by the County.The services requested, herein, are for Annual Indigent Funeral Services.  Alachua County has a Cremation Only policy. Any exceptions to this policy must be approved by the Alachua County Division of Social Services. Services include the provision of direct cremation or burial (exception only) of indigent and/or unclaimed persons who die within the confines of Alachua County in accordance with Chapter 470 of the Florida Statutes.It is estimated that there will be one hundred and fifty indigent services in each twelve-month period with approximately ninety percent of those being cremations. The County's intent is to award to more then one qualified vendor. The awarded vendors are not guaranteed a specific number of services to be approved, as program is based on Annual as needed basis.It is the intent of Alachua County to use this solicitation to qualify vendors for The Indigent Burial and Cremation Program.
