City of Cedartown Tree Inventory and Storm Mi ga on Plan Request for Price and Proposal April 12, 2024 Proposal Due by Monday April 29, 2024 by 2:00 pm The City of Cedartown invites proposals from qualified firms for the purpose of conduc ng a public property tree inventory and a related storm mi ga on plan. Background Cedartown is a city of 10,278 residents in Northwest Georgia. Located in the ABC (Atlanta, Birmingham, Cha anooga) Triangle, it is experiencing growth associated with commerce and industry in that area. Cedartown originated from a Cherokee Indian se lement along the banks of Cedar Creek, where European se lers cohabitated with na ve residents un l its incorpora on in 1854. Cedartown’s early growth was associated first with agriculture, then with industry as co on and iron manufacturing began to strengthen local economy. Departure of industry in the 1970s threatened local life. Recently interest in tourism and light industry is s mula ng commerce and crea ng improved business and quality of life, but risking environmental resources due to development or re-development. More recently Cedartown received its 30-year Tree City USA Award from the Na onal Arbor Day Founda on. There is a core group of tree stewards interested in seeing Cedartown progress in its tree management capabili es. Cedartown has been ac ve and successful in improving its poten al for growth and improvements with an array of grants, financial incen ves, and improving services. This tree inventory and storm mi ga on plan project is a step toward a local tree management plan that will precede review of local codes and ordinances affec ng trees. Cedartown hopes to learn from other communi es engaged in similar pursuits and hopes to produce lessons learned from this project to help others. Proposal Requirements 1.
