Addendum #4 Organization: Town of Superior Project Name: Community Center Improvements Project Number: PW 2026-07 Date: June 5th, 2026 Addendum 4 Includes: A. Questions and Answers B. Updated Contract Drawings A. Q&A 1. The notes on Sheet 18 indicate the existing deep foundations are to be clipped with a minimum 10” section to be removed. Do you know the nature of the existing deep foundations (i.e. 12 or 18” drilled shafts)? The drawings specified concrete caissons but we never actually found any concrete caissons. The same “ 10” section” would apply to steel piles/piers if they are discovered during excavation. It is possible we may discover concrete caissons at previously unexcavated locations during the repair. 2. The notes on Sheet 19 say to create/enforce a 10” minimum void space. Is this void space to be established along the entire length of the wall getting underpinned, approx. 70 Lf? Yes 3. The micropile details show Williams Form underpinning brackets and 4-1/2” 80 ksi casing. Can other underpinning brackets and casing combinations be used as long as the meet the required micropile capacity of 40 kips and stamped drawings and calculations are provided. Yes, substitutes with equal or better performance are acceptable. 4. The micropile notes on Sheet 17 indicate the ultimate grout to ground bond stress value of 39 psi shall be confirmed by the contractor. Should we assume this means that a Verification Test should be performed on a sacrificial micropile? Geotechnical engineer verified no validation testing of the 39-psi grout-to-bond strength is required for this project. 5. The micropile detail on Sheet 19 indicates centralizer spacers at 12" centers along the reinforcing bar. Based on typical industry practice and installation considerations, this spacing appears unusually tight. We would expect centralizers to be spaced on the order of several feet rather than inches. Please confirm whether the intended spacing is: 12 inches on center as shown or 12 feet on center (or another spacing), which may have been intended. Spacing is intended to be on the order of feet. Should actually be 10’ centers along reinforcing bar. 6. Does the Town have a list of preferred testing agency that contractors may use? The contractor may select the Geotech firm of their choice. The Town doesn’t have a list of preferred vendors. 7.
