Item Description 3.0 – QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS The following questions and answers are provided as a matter of information to clarify issues raised about the Bid Documents. Item Questions and Answers On the Form of Proposal, what depths should we assume to develop unit prices for soil borings and test pits? RESPONSE: The County will not set a fixed depth for soil borings or test pits. Per Section IV.D.3 of the RFP, the Vendor shall use its professional/engineering judgment to recommend the scope, location, and depth of subsurface investigations based on site conditions, project needs, and geotechnical standards of practice, subject to County authorization before any work begins. For pricing purposes on the Form of Proposal, Vendors must state the assumed depth used to calculate unit prices for Items 3O.1 and 3O.2. This assumed depth is only a pricing basis; it doesn't cap the depth the Vendor may later recommend or the County may authorize. 1 Vendors must state assumed depths as follows: • Item 3O.1 Soil Borings Authorized by the County: State the assumed boring depth (e.g., "Unit price based on assumed depth of ___ feet") in the space provided on the Form of Proposal. • Item 3O.2 Test Pitting and Subsurface Investigation Authorized by the County: State the assumed test pit depth (e.g., "Unit price based on assumed depth of ___ feet") in the space provided on the Form of Proposal.
