Item Description 3.0 – QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS The following questions and answers are provided as a matter of information to clarify issues raised about the Bid Documents. Item Questions and Answers First, I would like to better understand the reasoning behind the request to switch to a rolling steel door. It is important to note that if a rolling steel door is damaged, repairs are significantly more difficult and expensive, whether it involves individual slats, the entire curtain, or the internal spring mechanisms. 1 In contrast, a sectional door, similar to the one currently installed, is much easier to maintain. If damage occurs, we can simply replace a single section, making ongoing maintenance much more cost-effective. Furthermore, we can provide an all-aluminum insulated sectional door with powder-coated tracks and hardware, which would be a substantially cheaper option. Response: Due to the corrosive environment of the building a stainless-steel door is required. The County has chosen to go with a roll up door as the existing sectional door had tracks that extended over an open top filter tank that allows dirt and debris to fall into the tank when the door is opened.
