Accessory Dwelling Unit Survey

Description

The Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG) proposes an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Survey to assess the extent to which ADUs contribute to housing supply and affordability in Santa Barbara County.  The services of a qualified consultant will be used to design the survey, execute the surveying, and collating survey results. SBCAG staff will use the survey results in preparation of a report. Important Information:The funding for this project has a hard project completion date.  The final invoice must be provided to SBCAG no later than April 12, 2024.  SBCAG has an overall budget for this project of $153,000 and expects the staff role and the consultant role to be approximately equal ($75,000+/-); however, a consultant may propose a budget for its role aligned with its own expectations. Within Santa Barbara County there are approximately 1,625 existing legal ADUs and approximately 857 in some phase of development.  A consultant should assume approximately 2,500 surveys.  Should 2,500 surveys exceed the available budget, a proposal may consider only the existing and legal ADUs.  Please Note: A consultant may provide options for both existing and in development, or only existing.All surveying costs – printing, postage, incentives, etc. – are part of the consultant’s budget.  SBCAG will not be responsible for these costs.
