5th Avenue Sanitary Sewer Main Replacement

Description

The City received approval from the Maricopa County Human Services Department for FY2023/2024 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for the replacement of existing sewer mains within Downtown El Mirage. The primary project Base Bid item work will consist of the removal and replacement of approximately 1,654 linear feet of 8-inch PVC and VCP (vitrified clay) sanitary sewer main on Fifth Avenue from Santa Fe Lane to the alley south of Ventura Street. Further, this project will tie in existing sewer service lines and clean-outs to the new main. The eight (8) existing manholes along this main will remain in place but will be refurbished and receive an epoxy coating to provide corrosion protection and structural enhancement. Additional work includes asphalt replacement, installation of a temporary bypass system, traffic control and site restoration.There is also an Alternate Bid that eliminates the need to rehab the manholes (Base Bid Item No. 13), eliminates the need to remove and replace the concrete manhole bases (Base Bid Item No. 17) and eliminates the need to remove and replace the existing frame, cover and collar from the manholes (Portion of Base Bid No. 11).
