The CIMM department has been moving towards more advanced and industry aligned machinery as per the want and need of its committee and business partners. Our current mixture of Haas and Okuma machinery has been an ongoing classroom struggle to teach on, as they differ from one another in ways that can make teaching both at the same time difficult. These difficulties can and do result in time being taken away from learning the fundamentals of machining and manufacturing. Although class time will always have a certain amount of problem solving, with varied machining brands during labs, this problem solving is not as a result of students asking questions but is a result of different machinery handling and doing things in different ways. This machine will include several automation packages allowing it to be retrofitted for use with standalone robotics. The automation packages on this machine, as well as a previously purchased mill, allow MCC to more closely work with its business partners
