The Santa Cruz Wharf experienced two powerful storms in December 2023 and in February 2024. These storms damaged structural members (caps, stringers, ledgers etc.) supporting the end of the Wharf and destroyed critical piles at bents 167 through 182, leading to a partial collapse of the Wharf decking in both locations and the closure of the Dolphin Restaurant. The City of Santa Cruz subsequently closed the end of the Wharf for safety and is moving forward to repair the significant damage that has already taken place as well as strengthen and reinforce the existing structure at these locations. The Project consists of the following major elements: 1. Demolition and disposal of the Dolphin Restaurant and its associated enclosed patio. Includes removal, transport, and disposal of hazardous materials. 2. Removal and disposal of existing damaged piles. 3. Installation/replacement of damaged or missing piles. 4. Installation/replacement of associated structural members, mechanical connectors and decking.
