It is the intent of the County of Calaveras (“County”) to receive proposals from qualified Contractors for the Lily Gap Vegetative Maintenance, Unit 1. Lily Gap Unit 1 is a 156 acre shaded fuel break that was constructed in 2013 by mastication on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land in northeast Calaveras County on the South Rim of the North Fork Mokelumne River. This is a vegetative maintenance project that will masticate underbrush and ladder fuels that have regenerated during the past 13 years compromising fuel break functionality, community protection, and forest health. The primary goal of the project is to restore the functionality of the Lily Gap fuel break by felling dead hazard trees, thinning/pruning overstocked saplings, and masticating hazardous fire fuels, brush, ladder fuels, slash and logs.
